Annie Hilerio born of Puerto Rican and Dominican parents in New York City was raised in the Bronx; now calls South Florida home.   Published in Beyond The Stars, The National Book of Poetry, Blue Turtle Crossing Ezine, Take It to the Street Poetry (The Nexxus Volumes), included in a Greenroot Pictures production as well as sharing her works on Blogtalk Radio among other creative forums where she has been perfecting her craft as a poet under her pen name Butterfly.  Writing became a release and a critical form of self expression while wading the uncharted territory of being catapulted into becoming a single mother of two children.   The universal language of connecting with other human beings through ink drives her belief of self expression and hope that through writing we realize that although we come from different socioeconomic backgrounds we are not so different and we are not alone.
